BT broadband prices are set to increase by £2 per month, while BT Infinity fibre customers will get a monthly rise of £2.50. The basic broadband package starts at £9.95 per month, while Infinity starts at £29.99. Customers are advised that under current rules, in the event of a price increase they have the right to switch providers and get out of their BT contract free of charge. These increases are above inflation so it’s likely plenty of customers will vote with their feet especially as they are rubbing salt in the wounds by starting to charge £3.50 a month for BT Sport.
Line rental is staying at £18.99 per month, but the cost per minute is to rise by 1p for both mobile and landlines, the cost to connect each call you make has gone up by 2p to 21p per call. BT recently hired around 1,500 extra call centre staff to help deal with volume of angry consumers and business that call them every day so it looks like they will be needed after these insane price hikes.
